Stoicism - H1

The reading that resonated with me the most this week was the one on Stoicism. Stoicism is the philosophy that everything in our lives can always get worse. At first glance, this outlook sounds highly cynical, but the more I think about it the more I like it. To me, it's a humbling way of thinking. Knowing that everything and everyone I have in my life could disappear without warning guides me to be more thankful for all I have been given. Sometimes we get so caught up in wanting what we don't have that we forget about the things that we have already been blessed with. With Stoicism, it becomes easier to find happiness and contentment with our lives because we are forced to realize that what we currently have might not be here tomorrow. By taking this approach, I feel as though we can see life's bigger picture, rather than fumbling over the trivial things that we so often get hung up on. I find it very comforting.
