Section 8, Group 4

Last class we discussed al-Ghazzali and his search for certainty with religion and God. As his skepticism grew, he became more and more uncertain of things and finally had a mental breakdown.

FC: What book did he write that described Aristotle's thoughts on God? The Opinions of Philosophers
DC: If it is that al-Ghazzali's uncertainty was what caused him to have a breakdown, do you think that can happen to any of us? Does uncertainty actually cause us to have a mental breakdown and if so how far can we get?

Discuss.

  1. Definitely. I feel like if something is unclear to you and you are not sure about it then frustration will come about sooner or later causing a breakdown.
FQ: Who were the two most famous and influential philosophers of the French Enlightenment? - Voltaire and Rousseau.
