Answer:  "The Commentator"

Discussion:  Do you think that everyone that can grasp philosophy should study it?  Why or why not?

Discussion: Briefly discuss what Nicholas of Autrecourt's view on caust and effect. Do you agree or disagree?

We briefly discussed in class about the effects of not studying philosophy and overstudying philosophy. I strongly believe there has to be a happy medium with philosophy. Everyone has thoughts and opinions on particular subjects, but I think if you go too in depth with philosophy it will eventually run into a circle. You begin to come up with questions as simple as What is the color red? Who made the color red? What does the color of red mean? Who decided to spell the color red? The list goes on, so there definitely a fine line between studying nothing at all and being extreme on a topic. Not studying philosophy at all and not understanding the concepts that underly within philosophy wouldn't be beneficial to anyone. I think it's very interesting, but people must have an open mind when going into discussions etc.

  4. FQ: What did Nicholas question?
A: The ability of reason to describe reality.

There is no necessity in studying philosophy. A person can understand it perfectly well without being told what it is. I don't think a person should be "obligated" to study it, it should be a choice.

  5. Philosophy isn't something to be understood the same way by everyone. Some people wish to study it, others do not. I think it should be a personal choice to study it. If it were to be overstudied then I think people would repeat mistakes if the past and history wouldbecome a loop.
