Today group 6 decided to talk about some about Descartes from page 316. Descartes decided that he wanted to fight the evil spirit. Therefore, he would force himself to believe that everything is an illusion. Everything being the sky, the earth, colors, numbers, and sound. Descartes was even quoted from this decision, "I shall consider myself as having no hands, no eyes, no flesh, no blood, nor any senses." And just from reading what Descartes had decided, what have you gathered from this and/or do you agree with Descartes?
More Discussion. I feel like Descartes wanted everyone to see that we can see more in life from th things around you, such as looking into the sky, or the things that you hear around you, and nature's colors and it's beauty. Minus your senses, I guess Descartes wanted people to view everything in life to a different level possibly or travel farther with your views. If I understood anything about Descartes, I would say that he loved life, and he had a special way of using his brain to think and living the way people should.

ReplyDeleteIt's like if doesn't believe in anything or can form any opinions he can't argue about it. Thus fighting the evil spirit. And people kill over their beliefs so maybe thats the evil spirit.
i beleieve its just another way to look at reality. It like he didnt accept that things and objcects where real but really he knew they were.
