Section 9, Group 3

Last class we discussed what religion does for people. al warraq thought god was an idiot, but thought the Koran was still a beautiful book.  We discussed the personal benefits of practicing religion, even if it's wrong.  No matter what happens in the afterlife, you can still have a moral life with a good community.

  1. I agree with what we said in our group that you just have to live your life and do what makes you happy, and if you are religious and that is what makes you happy you just have to believe in what you are doing and not worry about whether you are right or wrong.

Factual question: What religion did al-Warraq claim as his own?
    A: Muslim

Discussion question: Do you feel that people that believe without proof are idiots?

  2. What I think takes away from ones happiness or ones "morals" is the constant worrying about what everyone else is doing. I think if you just mind your own damn business and keep yourself entertained then this will be most beneficial.
