Section 8 group 5 march 26

What do you think about Locke and his idea that thinking could not appear in the universe if it had not come from a thinking thing?
Is it possible that we could have thought without being created by someone who first had it?
Belief in God versus the Big Bang Theory. How could we be so intricate by means of an explosion? For us to have thought someone had to have first thought of it. Should we try to interpret this, or simply leave it to our own beliefs. Do we just take it on faith and accept the incomprehensibility of it all.

FQ: English deism starts with who?
A: Edward Herbert.

  1. I think some things are better left unsaid. I think a lot of things in life are relied on faith. I don't think we should interpret everything in our lives. We won't ever reach an answer...so what's the fun in that? Sometimes wondering about a subject is more fun than trying to interpret things in life nobody knows about.

F: One Parisian section after another was turning its churches into _________ ___ _______.
    A: Temples of Reason

Discussion: Why do you think at this time they would choose a woman to dress in white portratying "reason" rather than a man?

  2. Thinking about the creation of the universe leads to so many different views and questions that I became more confused after the conversation. Some things should just be left alone.
