Random Thoughts

Hey I'm just trying to see how this thing works and how people really respond to blogs, so I'm going to just post a thought every-now-and-then.
"A strong mind can be a weak body's best friend, just as a weak mind can be a strong body's worst enemy."
How can you relate? Arguments? Agreements? Whats up?

  1. Being a 5'2" twig of a girl, I can certainly relate to the first half. One needs a strong mind, regardless of physical strength, but both parts of the quote are true.

It's hard to argue anything that stands for people being smart. Hah.

Where did the quote come from? I can't seem to find a source.

  2. Haha... I completely agree with the post above ^^^. I am not naturally athletic, though I do try to keep healthy and in shape. I know that my body will someday become frail and probably won't be as useful for me in the future as it is today, so I always try to read and develop my mind, that way I have something to "fall back on."

  3. I actually just came up with this earlier this morning after my workout. I have several guys that are trying out for the Ranger Challenge team for ROTC, (I'm the RC Commander). Some of which are very strong physically, but have a weak mind.

This morning I watched as the "stronger" ones struggled to complete the workout because they started to feel sorry for themselves and began to give up. They let their minds tell them that they COULDN'T DO IT, when in reality, it was very much within their physical capability.

On the contrary, the individuals that are less physically capable, but have a "strong" mind, seemed to have completed the workout with more ease.

Was it their physical ablities? No. It was there mental drive to complete the task that stood before them.

I know these young men almost as family. I've spent the past year or so coaching, mentoring, and trying to mold them into good Army Officers. THEY ARE NOT WEAK!!! (Physically or Mentally)

Yet time and time again,(and not just with my Ranger Challenge team, but in any competitive atmosphere) a man's mind has the ability to cripple him or enable him. His mind can keep him from reaching his goals or it push him to new heights! (How many times have you seen the "Underdog" overcome the "Pure-Bred"?)
