Should reason give away to faith, or should faith give away to reason?
Reason is a gift from "God", and thus perfectly appropriate in religion? T or F
We have also talked about one of the most logic-defying miracles that appears in Joshua 10:13. "So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day." Now, in order for the sun to stand still, the earth naturally would have had to cease rotating. However, this would have caused not only gravity itself to cease, but also this would have caused worldwide temperature changes, a temporary changing of the Earth's magnetic field (causing all creatures that use said field for navigation to be thrown into turmoil as their "north star", so to speak, disappeared) as well as giving everyone on the bright side of the Earth a potentially lethal dose of UV radiation due to the deflection power of Earth's magnetic field being temporarily "shut off". And then, if the world had suddenly gone from rotating at 465.11 m/s (at the equator) to no movement at all, everything on the earth would have been shot out into space as if from a slingshot.
In conclusion, Faith & Reason can almost never get along together. As a wise man have once said:”Reason is Religion’s greatest enemy”
Personal note:
“The World is divided into armed camps ready to commit genocide just because we can't agree on whose fairy tales to believe.”
I believe to seek out reason you almost have to think of your own ideas of how something happened, but with faith it seems like you're always told how something happened.
ReplyDeleteAlso, i apologize for not being there today guys.
I've been really sick : /
Can't believe the Beryl Baptists put that message out for all to see, without irony or self-knowledge. Or maybe I can.
ReplyDeleteOur true and false question is true of course. hahaha
ReplyDeleteI am not sure but I believe reason should give away to faith because one has to have reason for faith, or maybe one has to have faith for a reason.... either way my opinion is not at all concrete and I would really like to know a good answer.
I'm perplexed! :) Great question I can not choose between the two. I strongly feel we need them both.
ReplyDeleteI agree with William. I tend to side with faith being the main thing in my own life. Maybe that's just me though
