Our group discussed the views of the Greek philosopher Aristotle.

Our factual question is this:

True of False: Aristotle emphasized analysis of the physical world rather than that of the World of Forms.

Answer: True

Discussion Question: According to Aristotle, happiness comes from purpose. In reference to this view, what is your idea of happiness?

  1. My idea of "happiness" differs from Aristotle. Sure, everyone in life wants to find their purpose, but that is not what my definition of happiess is. Finding a purpose influences being happy, but there is more to it.Being happy is being optimisic and content with whatever situation seems to come your way. The most happy people in my eyes are the people who are able to deal with hardships, and still be okay. This is not easy for everyone. Some people let little things ruin their happinss and that shouldn't be the case.

  2. I believe that happiness is a relative concept, and is interpretted differently by each individual. Personally, I agree with Aristotle in the sense that humans naturally must have some sense of purpose and belonging in order to function in a mentally and spiritually healthy fashion. To others, however, a definitive purpose may mean nothing, and happiness comes through other means.
