Philosoraptors (2:40)

We finally got back on track. We discussed our topic that we missed out on last session. Since the topic is the same, I'm not going to bother with an outline. Instead, how about some more questions? Yeah that sounds good.

Factual Question: In Taoism, is there a higher being that watches over the people? The answer is no. They believe in becoming one with the universe, not one with a particular deity.

Discussion Question: Do you like the idea of not being an individual, but part of a bigger society?

Personally, I hate that idea. I like to think I'm unique and I want people to know it. I don't want to be recognized as my mother's son or that one guy that used to work at a pizza place. I want to be known as Nick Reinehr.

Hmm, yes I like to be an individual, sure. But I also like to be part of society. I think that individualism is so stressed in today's American culture that we forget that we are all one world, one team. We strive for individual success and forget the success of our peers. Maybe its the military in me, but in order to be truly successful, it takes the effort of the whole team. "One fight one team" and "never leave a fallen comrade" are just a few military oaths that support this thinking. If you as an individual think you are so awesome to pull the whole world out of a rut by yourself, then go right ahead, go for it. But I am sure that in your quest you will come to realize you need others and they need you. Also, you can still be an "individual" and still be a part of the society. Be yourself, just don't forget about everyone else.
