Group 5 (16)

It was a very small group on Tuesday...two people. Anyways, we discussed how it was ironic that about 500 years ago Machiavelli said that politics is "...all manipulation and strategy, not love for the people...". It's kind of how people still see politics and politicians. We came up with the question:

If modern politics aren't "moral", why do we still participate in the practice?

Group 5...PLEASE comment...

  1. Honestly, this question is hard to answer. Of course, one political party always thinks that the other party is pushing "their own agenda", "doing what's best for them and not the people" and vice versa, but maybe that's their way of putting a fear in us. That fear could possibly be keeping the "non-politicians" from really making a change, because- let's face it- this country goes back and forth every 4 to 8 years...Anyways, I don't necessarily believe that politics aren't moral, but I don't believe that politics aren't immoral either.
