If you really want to do your best in an exam

It’s just about that time again. Here’s the best test-prep advice I can pass along to students (and to everyone else, for the extended sense in which life itself is a kind of “examination"):

If you want really to do your best in an examination, fling away the book the day before, say to yourself, “I won’t waste another minute on this miserable thing, and I don’t care an iota whether I succeed or not..."

Groups, spend a portion of today's discussion time reviewing. Be sure you've agreed upon and posted your five best questions.

One more word to the wise test-taker: when you don't do the extra credit, or don't do it thoughtfully, it appears to your professor that you don't care how you do on the exam or in the course. You shouldn't let me draw that conclusion.
