16-1

SO GUYS I completely forgot that I was supposed to post this. Glad I remembered.

Anyways we discussed what is the true good will for EVERYONE, whether it is a general unchanging law in all locations or if it changes from location to location. Government was brought into play and I brought up the point that the view of good will for everyone can be viewed as the idealist form of communism. Andrew disagreed and said it can be viewed as democracy or really any governing system.

The news was brought up and about how negative it can be. We brought up hopeful situations and wondered why the news choose to ignore those due to the fact that it tends to not be a good story.

Human Nature was brought up and we contemplated whether nature was good or bad. We discussed whether if it was learned or if it was just something you are born with.

  1. I question what Rouseau was thinking when he said that nature is good. I think that if humans weren't apart of the equation we would have another story, but yet humans live in this world and are an ever important part of nature. As far as human nature goes, I'm not so sure we are all that good. We tend to be selfish, greedy, spiteful, intolerant, close-minded, jealous, and power hungry. And since man has walked this earth there has been war and there are no signs nor possibility of it stopping.
But I do think that logical people can and should come together and as Dr. Oliver put it not just tolerate one another ,but accept one another for who they are and find a common ground. The trick is for everyone to find a common ground that will make everybody happy.

    1. I don't think of nature of being good necessarily, but more of being fare. Everyone endures nature, no exceptions.

  2. I am not sure you can ever have true good for everyone. There are just too many different opinions around the world. Whether it is over religion, politics, what have you.

Discussion Question: Humans are a part of nature. Therefore, how do you think our environment has shaped us to be good or evil...or both?
