Hegel was born in Stuttgart in 1770 during the French revolution. Hegel described the revolution as a "glorious dawn". He believed that in his lifetime a crucial stage in history had been reached. He used the analogy that the whole history as a crumbled piece of paper. We can't understand what is there until all of it has been unfolded. For Hegel reality is constantly moving towards it's goal of understanding itself.
I find Hegel's approach to the world interesting. He finds himself at an important time in history and that there is a reason behind it all. I think we all at some point in our life look back and think how the events in our life pushed us to where we are today.
