Stoic Advice

A quick read blog post about the Greek word/concept of "amathia" which roughly means intelligent stupidity or "disknowledge." The word explains why intelligent people do evil or dumb things, and makes an argument to adopt the word into your vocabulary, and be aware of the word actively in your life.

  2. Being ignorant is such an easy thing to be in todays society with so many different types of information. Maybe keeping an open mind is one of the best things an individual can do.

    1. Being ignorant is one of my biggest fears. I just want to be informed, but it's near impossible to know the absolute truth with so much speculation and lies floating around on the internet and on TV. I guess I should read a book if I want concrete facts haha

  3. I immediately made that connection to Fantasyland as well. The times that we are in, we must not all be caught up in the fantasy that some people try to project on us. Make sure to seek the facts and stay at home.

  4. It seems that our leaders could use a lessen about amathia in our current predicament with covid-19. Everyone seems to be worried about the money, which is still important, but if everyone gets sick then more money will be lost, not to mention the potential loss of life. This is also why “alternative facts” are so dangerous. #11
