I think the biggest takeaway I get from our Intro to Philosophy class is the discussion that happens between my classmates as we try to understand the concepts brought up in class together. When we learn to respectfully challenge one another's views on life's unanswerable questions, I think we strengthen our knowledge of not only our individual philosophies, but also those of the collective whole.
I think I am going to make political philosophy my minor here, since I want to learn more about political philosophy. I agree I think that people should take at least one philosophy class in their undergrad courses.
Exposure to other's way of thinking is a much needed tool in life. As long as an individual is somewhat open minded, there are many things to gain from such an experience. 6
This class also teaches us to challenge each other in a respectful way, while keeping the open mind you mentioned, in an attempt to understand the other. No one person knows how the world works, its a community that we learn from together.
I couldn't agree more. Some philosophy classes can be boring and much more reading intensive than CoPhi, but this class has definitely sparked my interest in the topic and I think everyone should have a similar experience.
Being able to open your thought process on anything is something you will gain by studying philosophy. It has certainly helped myself with looking at the bigger picture of issues in the world today.
Philosophy is a good way to learn how to think outside the box and every student should develop that skill at an early age.

I think we all have our own philosophy regardless if we are aware of it or not. It then becomes important to become aware and refine our philosophies.
