Arrogance = error

  1. I think that often this is due to coping mechanisms for cognitive dissonance. When we are “sure” of something and we are made aware of contradictory evidence we ignore it, double down, or seek out any source that will affirm our conclusions. All the while the evidence to the contrary continues to exist and we continue in our incorrect conclusions. When all we need to do is correct our misconceptions... maybe, be comfortable with a little ambiguity and not need to be right all the time.

  2. I really like this quote. I feel that we get to certain points in our lives when we truly believe that everything we see has somewhat of a significance to us and that is how we often pass over things that may or may not be completely correct. "We believe in it so why should anyone else tell us no?"

  3. Now that that’s the truth. Because the more arrogant you get the less u see the truth which can result to huge mistakes that can even ruin lives

  4. The last thing I want to be is ignorant, which is similar to arrogance but arrogance is more about selfishness and pride. But I think everyone is ignorant to some degree because it's so hard to truly know something. You can do all the research necessary to find the truth, but what if you make a mistake or use unknowingly untrue information. This is especially the case when there is so much "fake news" or botched information we have access to.

  5. I have actually had a recent interaction with this specific topic about a simple math related problem.

  6. I enjoy this quote as arrogance and pride is something that I struggle with, but when I break down what I think and open up, I find that I lean a lot more by listening to others
