Only Boring People Get Bored

This is something my father told me at a very young age and my whole life I've been on the fence about the statement because it is rather insulting/loaded but I still see the truth. Now that we are all stuck at home I'm wondering how other people may react to hearing such a thing.

  1. It's a pretty funny saying. It does kinda assume you can leave the house, I'm not struggling very much staying occupied but I know plenty of people who just weren't stocked up on games/books/indoor activities.

  2. I would agree that this isn't necessarily true. It reminds me of the stuff my parents would tell me when I was little and bored just to get me to stop bothering them lol. I also agree with John that right now, people have more restrictions than the type of people this saying was for.

  3. I agree, interested/interesting people never get bored. Nor do they stay in the house all day. THere are no restrictions on getting out and moving around, so long as you avoid clumps of non-physically distant people. (Unfortunately for me, that means I have to skip my usual Sunday biking and hiking in Warner Parks... but there are still other places in the open air to not be bored in.

  4. I agree with this statement and it reminds me of the mindset that my parents had when they were raising my brother and I. We were taught to make the most out of everything and to find enjoyment wherever we could. This stuck with me as I grew up and allowed me to have many different interests in many different things and I feel like it allows people to be more well-rounded individuals.

  5. I disagree with the statement as to me it indicates that that if you are interesting you will never be bored. But there are a multitude of boring things that must get done. Black and white statements and absolutes are very seldom true.

  6. I not only agree with the statement I would even encourage it. in my opinion, the quote encourages us to thrive for excitement and welcome challenges. #11
