Gratitude for what we have, in place of resentment for what we lack, is a crucial tool for surviving hard times. The stoics, among others, were right about that.
Those of us living in America live better than 90% of the rest of the world, and we take our daily lives for granted all the time. If only we could see what the opposite life would be like, there would be a lot more compassion in the world.

ReplyDeleteValuing what you have is something that everyone should learn how to do and different scenarios sometimes bring the best out in us all.

ReplyDeleteThese type of experiences humble you for life. It teaches you to appreciate everything you have rather than worry about what you do not have.

ReplyDeleteThis makes me think that we can learn a lesson from quite literally anyone in this world. Be thankful for our security from the demons in our society.
