Our presentation is on Aristotle of Greece, one of the world’s greatest polymaths.
He is known for his philosophical contributions to the many areas of knowledge
including, but not limited to, math, physics, ethics, politics, metaphysics, psychology,
biology, logic, and rhetoric. Aristotle has produced over 200 known works during his
time, written in the form of manuscript drafts and notes; however, only 31 remain
today. Aristotle’s works were translated across the globe and were used by some
of history’s most notable leaders.
Jaylen Bass
My group members will present Aristotle’s life and influences. I will be complimenting
them by talking about Aristotle’s logic. Logic in Aristotle’s eyes is the instrument
(the "organon") by means of which we come to know anything. He proposed as formal
rules for correct reasoning the basic principles of the categorical logic that was
universally accepted by Western philosophers until the nineteenth century.

Aristotle is one of the most influential philosophers in antiquity. The school(Lyceum)
especially continued to influence others for hundreds of years after his death. One of
them was the Peripatetic movement and Theophrastus who is the most famous
member of the Peripatetic movement. His Lyceum was the first research institute in
which many scholars joined in collaborative documentation. Also, he was the first
person in history to build up a research library. In the middle ages, Aristotle’s works
influenced the generations of Islamic Aristotelians, such as Ibn Bajjah and Ibn Rushd.
In the Jewish Philosophical tradition, Maimonides, who is a Jewish philosopher,
uses Aristotelian concepts to analyze the contents of the Hebrew Bible.
