Happy birthday Michael Pollan

It’s the birthday of journalist Michael Pollan (books by this author), born on Long Island, New York (1955). He’s the author of best-selling books about food: The Botany of Desire (2001), The Omnivore’s Dilemma (2006), In Defense of Food (2008), Food Rules (2010), and Cooked: A Natural History of Transformation (2013). Recently he also wrote a book about psychedelic drugs called How to Change Your Mind (2018). His nutrition philosophy is: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” WA

I admired and corresponded with Michael before he became famous. I'd read his A Place of My Own and presumptuously sent him a long chapter of my book in progress, which he graciously read and offered constructive comments on.

Love his books, envy his writing hut.

I am definitely on board with the "Eat food. Not Too much. Mostly Plants" philosophy. That can really help just about anyone feel better.

I love his little hut. It would be very cool to have a cozy, relaxing place where I can be by myself and focus on my inner thoughts and creativity.

  3. Michael Pollan is my favorite nonfiction author. He always seems to engage me in the topic he's covering whether it be food, gardening, or psychedelic drugs. This summer I read "How to Change Your Mind" and it had an immense impact on my perspective of the science and culture surrounding psychedelic therapy. The book, along with all of Pollan's work is insightful and well researched. I recommend him to anyone who likes to learn.

Having a small place that looks like that to study and write in sounds very pleasant. I wonder about all the ideas he came up with in there.
