"The pluralistic form takes for me a stronger hold on reality than any other philosophy I know of, being essentially a social philosophy, a philosophy of 'co'"-William James
Looking at both comic strips makes me thing about how much children have grown and such a young age now, then when I was younger hahaha. Even though the posts are cartoons, it's actually how some kids act now.
I love the first comic strip, as Calvin has a point. As a child, it seems like everything can be answered by an adult with a definitive answer, and stumbling onto a thought provoking question such as this and not having it answered can be some scary stuff!
It's always fun to look back and laugh at things we did as kids, but it makes me wonder what I'm going to do next that I'll look back on in a few years and laugh at or regret
The second strip is a great example of the ridiculousness of our fantasyland. Should we all subscribe to intensely differing narratives, that vilify anyone that doesn’t agree with us, then what we end up with is chaos. We tout our religious freedom to the world, but is it so great? Should we be allowed to do as we please so long as we claim religious pretext? I have a hard time with this one. I want everyone to have the opportunity to live life the way they choose, so long as it isn’t harmful to anyone, but there are times when it becomes an issue. Thoughts? #11
The first cartoon is much deeper than just the surface to me. Why do humans exist? I really have no good answer but I do believe we were evolved over time but I don't think the science is there yet to pinpoint it all exactly.
Throwback to me in middle school just trying to get my homework done as opposed to doing it correctly. Comic strips from "The funny pages" of the newspaper are always fun to read. Whenever I go to my grandparents house I read them. Somehow they are almost always funny yet thought provoking.
All I can think about when I see this cartoon is, "Whats our purpose?" By that I mean, why are we here? I feel as though if you know your reasoning for being on Earth go pursue do not waste anytime. We never know when the higher power might call us home, so we have to make our time here count for something!

ReplyDeleteThose comings are quite humorous. It would be good to get some good ideas about why we exist and our purpose at young age.
