Heroes: Introduction [Nathan Tilton, Midterm 1/4]

"Where does it come from? This quest, this need to solve life's mysteries when the simplest of questions can never be answered. Why are we here? What is the soul? Why do we dream? Perhaps we'd be better off not looking at all." ~ Mohinder

It began at Goodwill. "Heroes, Season 1: $8.99."I was toast. I've been watching Heroes, a five-season TV show that aired from 2006-2010, this semester. Nominated for two Golden Globes and reaching a peak viewership approximately 16 million viewers, it had a significant impact in American culture during its prime (albeit that lasted about one season).

A super-hero saga, Heroes attempts an intricate balance between a modern reinterpretation of the genre and subtle comic book nostalgia. This blend of normal and abnormal creates a philosophical sand box, an opportunity the writers do not pass up. Apropos, the central thesis of the series is what it means to be a hero. With this focus in mind, my midterm will be split into three different segments: Fate, Morality, and Identity.

To finish, here's a short introduction to most of the characters my future posts will mention.
