"The pluralistic form takes for me a stronger hold on reality than any other philosophy I know of, being essentially a social philosophy, a philosophy of 'co'"-William James
"How was I supposed to know that you would become YOU?"
Reminds me of something William James said, reflecting on the profound mystery of existence - "Why is there something rather than nothing?" James said the great mystery is not just why anything exists, but why THIS very thing exists... this particular consciousness, person, universe. The dazzling particularity of existence, more than its sheer facticity, is wondrous. Alan Watts was onto that too.
I missed Chappie when it was released, now I'm gonna have to check it out. Thanks, Art. (Hope you don't mind my adding the embed, I want everybody to see this.)
I think the movie Chappie embodies this class of Identity and Truth. It questions so much about identity. I had forgotten all about it. Great film and great video selection.
Thanks Art. I put this movie on hold. I really want to see it. It was especially moving when he tells Deon, "You're my maker. Why did you make me so I could die." I think that is a question that believers in a divine being ask.
@AlanWattsDaily When you're ready to wake up, you're going to wake up. And if you're not ready, you're going to stay pretending you're just 'poor little me.'
@AlanWattsDaily Since you're all here and engaged in this sort of inquiry and listening to this sort of lecture, I assume you're all on the process of waking up.
