Objectivism Today: Part 3

Even though Ayn Rand died in the early 80s, what she started is continuing to progress.  Objectivism has become a serious topic of debate in a lot of philosophical circles and has made its way into politics. This just goes to show how we are starting to move towards a society that is being run by reason instead faith. However, with the recent surge in objectivists, religious individuals are taking notice and taking offense. Religion is trying to take over government and get rid of separation of church and state. They are infringing on the rights of women and other individuals and objectivists are outraged. There is still a big push by the American people saying that the government should take money from the rich and give to the poor in a robin hood style. This is not right. No person or establishment should have the right to take your property or freedom unless you commit a crime with the use of force.  And others think so as well. There have been over 50 books published on Ayn Rand and Objectivism.

This just goes to show that there is still hope for the United States. That there is still hope that we can turn things around and become the most productive society in history. That as a society we can congratulate people for succeeding instead of stealing their money. All that is needed to start this is for people to realize that being selfish is not evil even though religionist would have you think so. Being selfish means looking out for yourself and focusing on your own happiness because you only have one life to live, but it doesn't mean that you can't help people. It just means that you are not required to help people, and that if you do help people, you do it because you want to do so.

If there is anything you take from this, understand that it is okay to say the word "I". To say, "I want". Because when you die, that is it. You no longer have the opportunity to do what you want to do.
