Think about it...

The rise of flat-Earthers in the United States is evidence of two things: 1) the protection of speech, and 2) the failure of our educational system.— Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson) March 28, 2019

I think the first image is pretty funny. I also think it's really interesting that we usually get the impression that people haven't believed in round earth for as long as they have. I've read articles before about people painting the earth as round in the middle ages which I hadn't known about.
ReplyDeleteIt’s actually wild thinking about how the Ancient Greeks knew the Earth was round while some modern humans fail to accept it. I think Tyson is correct particularly with his first point, in that the biggest reason for the flat Earthers existing is more that they can have that thought, more than that they have an actual explanation they readily believe
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that with all this technology and information at our fingertips, people still believe that the earth is flat, even though the surrounding planets in our solar system are spheres. It makes no sense to me.
ReplyDeleteI've never understood how anyone cannot believe that the earth is round with evidence like this. Just like the shadows of the pillars in Sagan's video, how do we also explain the time zones if the earth were flat? It's kind of funny imagining a big ole rectangle in outer space spinning.
