  1. 1.) As much as I wish we could separate the art from the artist, no I don't think you can because to admire the art is to admire the artist.
2.) I do think people are highly affected by explicit song lyrics, I did research on this for a separate class and all the data pointed to a negative influence due to explicit lyrics.
3.) I do believe this only because Kanye is a genius but he was also driven to insanity recently.
4.) I do believe that people should be more open minded when listening to music. For example when N.W.A. were asked why their lyrics are the way they are they said it's because that's what they live through and see every single day, how could the person asking that question understand what happens in Compton.

  2. 1.) I think that art can never be seperated from the artist. This is because the creator came up with it from their own thoughts and feelings, as if the art was their child.
2.) I do think people are highly affected by explicit song lyrics, especially the youth. My 10 year old sister has come home talking about "purp drank" because she heard it in popular songs. Our minds can easily be influenced by music.
3.)I agree with the statement, and a good example would be Cobain. He was a very talented singer, songwriter, and guitar player. However, with great talent comes great mental distress. He was driven to insanity by his genius, pushing hin to suicide. He obviously wasn't a rapper, but a good example of genius/insanity.
4.) People should definetely be nore open minded when listening to music. If one can really try to appreciate the art behind different genres, they'll realize that every genre has its ups and downs.
