(11) Riley Hammond's Final Post#3 - The Philosophical Awards of Meditation.



After becoming more comfortable with your mind and meditating regularly, you can really access the rewards that are available to you. If praying has the same results for you as meditation, then by all means- do whatever it takes for you to be comfortable self reflecting.

Philosophically, meditating has provided me with the most insight and knowledge of my path and purpose of life to date. I see now the true wealth of a soul, and the power we all have within us to control our own means is liberating. When you are comfortable with yourself, you can look deeper into what you ARE. And what you are is what we all have the potential of being. We live in a world where the possibilities can be truly endless, something that (to me) can never be limited to or explained by any religion or "mindset" that comes from them. However, religion, specifically Christianity, is how I have been raised... and the Christian mindset is where I have been stuck.

When I was able to branch out, I realized that I didn't need to 100% rely on God, or anyone for that matter, to determine my well-being or future. I determine my well being. I am in control of my future. I do not believe that religion is bad by ANY means. The original intent was meant to be good, and for a lot of people it provides them the inspiration they need to "be good."

However, I see now through meditation and life experience that our minds are much more than we think. My manner of thinking has shift from "How" or "Why" to "What comes next." It's liberating and exciting. That is why I would recommend regular weekly or even daily meditation to anyone. How can you really know how you feel about life or religion etc if you do not push the limit, and ask YOURSELF.

  1. I try to meditate daily, during our dog-walks. (It doesn't have to be "seated" meditation to work.) I get my best ideas then. Or at least they seem good, when issuing from a relaxed and receptive state of mind.
