Here's how to do it:
For example:
"Joe" came to class on the first day ("inning" 1), posted a brief introduction before coming to class #2 (thus getting to 2d base), came to class #3 after posting a comment about William James's "Pragmatism" as well as an alternate quiz question and a discussion question (thus getting to 2d base, 3d base, and home to score his first daily participation run of the semester). He came to class #4 after posting two comments in reply to classmates and a link to an article on peripatetic philosophy he found online. His 4th inning run brings his semester total to 2 runs, noted in the middle of the diamond. On Day 5 he came to class after posting just two things: so, no runs today. In the 6th inning Joe came to class and turned on the computer/projector and loaded the CoPhi site, after having posted two things: so, he's now scored his 3d run (noted in the diamond). He only made it to 3d on Day 7. Before coming to class on Day 8 he posts 7 things, noting several extra bases in the lower right.
And I leave it to you to interpret Val's scorecard entries.
Always keep track of how many comments (etc.) you've posted to our site since last class, each earns you a BASE in addition to the one you get just for showing up (but you have to show up to claim any at all). Four BASES per class earns you a daily participation RUN.* You'll record all that on the daily Scorecard.
*NOTE: Extra BASES do not roll over to next class, just as base-runners stranded in one inning of a ballgame don't get to score in the next. But you'll still want the scorecard to reflect your extra effort.

ReplyDeleteAn alternative question for the quiz would be if there is an alternative forum/comment log created for DQ or alternative quiz questions. I thought I put it under here for this one being somewhat relevant to the scorecard.

ReplyDeleteDo runs carry over day to day or is it a resetting clock.
