First Post Midterm- Philosophy and Social Roles Section 8- Teshell Gales

For my first, second, and third post i decided to discuss the philosophy and roles of women, men, and children. I will be going in that exact order.
In today's society many people ask what are the roles of a woman? Should women be able to perform manly task such as work, vote, decide for themselves, etc.
Many ask should women be allowed to do anything besides take care of children, the household, such as cook, clean, take care of children, and her husband's personal needs. According to Aristotle, women should do nothing outside of child bearing.
Why do is that? In some families the person who brings the higher income to the table is the one who makes all of the final decisions in the marriage. Being men, I think it was all about being in the upper hand or in a superior place of being. So I believe men like Aristotle, knew if women could not work they would have no so say in the choices that needed to be made within their household. I personally feel like some women were miserable by being housewives. Having no voice is absolutely terrifying. But many women but up with the misery for their children's sake. They also had no other option because if they were to leave they would have nothing to take with them. I mean they don't work. So what would they do as far as income?
Luckily men like Plato and Socrates were men who pushed for women rights. In Plato's Republic, Socrates argues that women are just as capable as men in pursuit of the endeavors. I totally agree with Socrates. I believe women are capable of doing just as much as men. We can work and make decisions for ourselves.
