"Truth Traps" inspired by "On Bullshit"

In search of discerning the truth
He tripped over booby traps
shrouded in honesty.
He soon found himself in quick sand
sinking deep in gullibility and naivete'.

The facts no longer mattered
and innuendo worked like a charm.
Lost in a jungle of spoken chaos,
pierced by deceit like a poison punji stick,
He never even saw the harm.

What one day mattered to them all
was suddenly askew leaving him in awe.
What happened to the pleasant life?
And what is with all this emotional strife?
Bur he loved the conjecture, his emotions on the rise.

Bored no more and he loved his new purpose.
Let us right the wrongs before it is too late.
Like a rat caught in a trap with liar’s cheese
he enjoyed the taste that was used for bait,
but his logic is smashed by fear and hate

  1. Thanks for all your contributions to our class, Mitch, including the poetry. I've never had the courage to commit poetry in public myself, though I dearly love the form and never miss the daily Writers Almanac poem. Guess I'm afraid someone will compare me to the Vogons... https://hitchhikers.fandom.com/wiki/Vogon_poetry

  2. I have always written but only lately have felt the need to get it out there. Thanks for all the inspiration!
