Childhood Cartoons: FINAL BLOGPOST

I had so much fun with doing the philosophy behind childhood cartoons I decided to add more cartoons to improve my work. With this project i decided to do, Lilo and Stitch and Scooby Doo. “Scooby Doo where are you?’’, taught me so much growing up and I loved to watch the show. While doing the project I realized Scooby Doo and the gang did play a role in me being skeptical. The show contains five main characters Shaggy Roggers, Velma Dinkley, Daphne Blake, and Fred. Each character plays their very own unique role. Shaggy and scooby doo always believe that the monster is real. In every show I believed their was a real monster, because I didn’t understand that science played a role in the show. At the end of every show they gang always proved that monsters don’t exist and that we should be skeptical. Epistemology is the theory of knowledge, especially with regards to its methods, validity and scope. Analyzing the nature of knowledge and how it relates to similar notions such as, truth, justification, and belief. While also dealing with skepticism about different knowledge claims.

The co-writers of Lilo and Stitch are Christopher Michael Sanders and Dean DeBlios and co-directed. Christopher Michael Sanders was born March 12, 1962, he is known for directing and writing Lilo and Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon as well as creating and voicing Stitch. Michael Sanders began his career designing for muppet babies. Dean DeBlois was born June seventh nineteen seventy and he is a Canadian Film Director. He is also most known for Lilo and Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon. Dean Deblios was raised in Aylemer, Quebec, Canada and was born in Brockville, Ontario. He began his career as an assistant animator and layout artist for Hinton Studios/ Lacewood productions in Ottawa, Ontario. These two talented people are the people who brought us and filled our imagination with Lilo and Stitch.

The movie Lilo and Stitch unlocks some of the hardest philosophical questions. What is love? And How show we treat our animals? The movie shows us the proper way to love our selves, the people around us and our pets. The movie is about a young lonely girl named Lilo who lives in Hawaii, Lilo’s parents died in a car accident before the movie. and her older sister, Nani takes care of her. Nani tries really hard to be a great influencer and to be there for Lilo but she is still lonely, until she meets her “dog” stitch. Stitch is an experiment also known as experiment 626, from another planet. Throughout the show the characters show us the true meaning of love and family. In the show the characters say repeatedly say “Ohana means family and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. Stitch starts out being dangerous, unhappy and with nothing. Throughout the movie Lilo influences Stitch to grow, learn to love, and that “ a creature made for destruction can do good”. The philosophical theme is family and love is the most important things in life.

  1. Your group's presentation WAS fun, and really highlighted the great impact early childhood influences have on our growth and development. That puts a lot of responsibility on parents and other early caregivers to pay close attention to such influences.

Stitch is a good example of how our conventional notions of personhood are challenged when we cease to define a person in narrow tribal terms (as discussed in the post below). Stitch may be an alien experiment but he becomes a part of the family - a "person"...
