Phil, I see where you're coming from, but let me explain a little better. What I mean by what you quoted is that no matter what you decide to believe in whether it's your own creative power or yourself, at the end of all things you are putting all of your trust and sometimes dedicating your life to one thing, your belief. Belief can go by many different names for humans, some aren't even seen as human-like life forms, but if you truly believe that whatever it is you believe in is in complete control of your life, it doesn't matter what or who you believe in because in reality it's all the same thing that goes by different names depending on what you choose to believe.
Jerrod, I think you might have misunderstood me. Basically what I just said above, however let me explain a little better. People that worship the earth do so because it gave them life, which is one of the same reasons people worship God(s).  The Romans and Greeks believed in many gods that were in control of many different things, back then they would ask the gods of war for guidance and each one had a little bit of a different purpose, well now you look at what a soldier might do before going to war that only believes in one God and he would ask for all the same things from just one God. Essentially what I'm getting to is that whatever humans decide to call it or however many they decide there are, in the origin there's just one thing and what that thing is? Well, that's completely up to you to decide. Myself I think it's just as simple as life, it happens because happens.
Jasper, I completely agree with you and you kind of proved my point when you said, "...they all come down to the same principle...". I know you probably weren't going against me when you said this, but I'm glad that we are thinking along the same lines.
In the end it doesn't matter if you agree or disagree, or think what they believe in is completely crazy, all that matters is that whatever you believe in makes you happy and helps you get through life. Humans have to learn to get used to this so that mankind can truly be at peace.
