To fully explain my philosophy I would first have to inform you about my aspirations. And the best way for me explain this is to define health. My definition of health is to be physically and mentally sound. And my definition of health education is education teaching you to why you should, and how you should be healthy. I am striving to become a doctor. I chose this occupation for many reasons. One of the reasons being I care about the health and well-being of others. At the beginning of this self-reflective activity, I reflected on attributes that mean the most to me which are loyalty, hope, and charity there of the many attributes that I think are important to my future field. I also chose to understand and give as the traits that related to me. Now to break it down, I chose loyalty as one of my attributes because I think it is important because we need to be loyal to others if you are working with people. Especially in a hospital environment you would want to be loyal and trusted to work with patients and coworkers to have a smooth-running work environment. I chose charity because I personally believe that giving to the needy is something we should do. This is not bound by my future occupation in any way I just believe that if we see someone in need we should help them in any way we can. Personally, when I become a doctor I want to sever at a nonprofit organization such as Doctors without borders. Hope it self-means a lot to me, to give hope to someone that doesn't have any is the best feeling in the world. And to do it as an occupation would be the best thing ever. To sum it all up I believe that loyalty, hope, and charity are very important attributes in the health field and so are understanding and giving. I also believe that becoming a doctor would allow me to help the community in a health-related way. At the same time, I would enjoy that occupation not only because it’s an interesting field but because I can help the community in a bigger way than I do right now.

  1. Mens sana in corpore sano, healthy mind in a healthy body: a great aspiration, for a future physician. Surprisingly many in that profession are in less than stellar health. Odd.

Loyalty, hope, and charity are all admirable, excellent values.

Maybe I'll see you in Bioethics next Spring?
