Si...I just realized I never posted my final report. Since I was not made an author it wouldn't let me create and original post. I presented my report on Immanuel Kant the Tuesday before Christmas break. I did a power point but here were the points of my main focus.
1) Critique of Pure Reason
-First published in 1787
-One of the most influential works in philosophy
-Primary aim is to determine the limits and scope of pure reason
2) Critique of Practical Reason
-Not a critique of pure practical reason, but rather a defense of it as being capable of grounding behavior superior to that grounded by desire-based practical reasoning
God and immortality are also knowable, but practical reason now requires belief in these postulates of reason
-We understand our freedom while following the moral law
-Moral law frees us from the control of our desires
3) Metaphysics
-Argued that the mind is not blank
-It is insufficient to explain the beliefs about objects that we have
-Some components to beliefs must be brought by experience
-Modified the old division between a priori truth and a posterior truth

4) And I finished with a few quotes to think on…
“In law a man is guilty when he violates the rights of others. In ethics he is guilty if he only thinks of doing so.” ~Immanuel Kant
“All our knowledge begins with the senses, proceeds then to the understanding, and ends with reason. There is nothing higher than reason.” ~Immanuel Kant
“It is not God’s will merely that we should be happy, but that we should make ourselves happy.” ~Immanuel Kant

Im sorry about the technical difficulties… I hope its not too late.
Caitlin Bates
Section 10
Group 2

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00292399060912284586noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2619743764213415433.post-46904627430275472582014-12-10T12:13:30.587-06:002014-12-10T12:13:30.587-06:00Interesting panel of savants you've assembled ...Interesting panel of savants you've assembled here, Cheyenne, yourself included! But I disagree with Nietzsche, deep thinkers WANT to be understood. And I don't understand Bruce: I boil water for tea every day, it NEVER becomes the teapot. But he's probably making a deeper point than I can understand. Anyway, best wishes to you as you continue your magical journey!Philhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02115141650963300011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2619743764213415433.post-78619494784647523192014-12-10T12:08:24.111-06:002014-12-10T12:08:24.111-06:00If you posted successfully, it should be here.
