Al Gore on Al Gore Sr.

Join us on Monday, September 16th for a conversation between former Vice President of the United States Al Gore and Professor Anthony Badger, author of Albert Gore, Sr.: A Political Life. The event begins at 3pm in Tucker Theatre. It is free and open to the public. Limited free parking will be available in the Reese Smith (Baseball) lot, off Faulkinberry Drive.

This event is sponsored by the Albert Gore Research Center, the College of Liberal Arts, the Strickland Visiting Scholar Program, the Department of History, and MTSU’s American Democracy Project.

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore won election to the U.S. House
of Representatives in 1976, 1978,
1980, and 1982 and to the U.S.
Senate in 1984 and 1990. He was
inaugurated as vice president in
January 1993 and served two terms.
Gore is the author most recently of
the New York Times bestseller An
Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power
and other works. He is the subject of
the documentaries “An Inconvenient
Truth”, which won two Oscars, and
“An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to
Power”. In 2007, Gore was awarded
the Nobel Peace Prize, along with
the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, for “informing
the world of the dangers posed by climate change.”

Badger’s ninth book on the
history of the American South,
Albert Gore, Sr.: A Political
Life, explores the life of the
distinguished senator from
Tennessee, MTSU alumnus,
and father of former U.S. Vice
President Al Gore. Badger is
professor of American History
at Northumbria University and
Emeritus Paul Mellon Professor at Cambridge University.

    Fun fact: I am
    Actually from Carthage, TN! Al Gore’s family have 2 homes on the Cumberland river there. I used to pass those houses every day. My little town loves him and his family.

    Im glad my mom, roommate, and you reminded me cause if not i would have missed seeing a great man talk and hear his views on certain topics too and glad i was able too hear some of them.
