Aliens: The Bastard Child of Repressed Sexual Fantasies and Delusions: Part 2 #6

Aliens, space, and UFOs seem to be imagined from cold-hard science, and have made their way into the sci-fi genre with ease because they usually encompass some future technology
(I’m looking at you, Star Wars). As I mentioned from the first installment, the aliens and UFOs are just a coverup for our collective beliefs, and that is exactly what they are when it comes to
repressed sexual fantasies. Jung’s view on sexuality, and how this will tie into extraterrestrials,
is definitely a more ancient and mystical one, drawing parallels and ideas from older thought.

Looking at several studies, and as shown by the graph below, we can see that much of the more
common fantasies include some kind of power dynamic. Being abducted, forced against your will to lie down onto a metal table to be experimented on, and being ‘mind-controlled’ to do certain things like walk outside of your house or to follow orders; all by the command of an extraterrestrial being definitely seems like a power dynamic. That 50-some year old farmer living in the middle of corn fields who claims to be abducted and probed? He may have liked it, he just didn’t know it.

“Spirituality and sexuality are not your qualities, not things you possess and encompass. Rather,
they possess and encompass you, since they are powerful daimons, Manifestations of the Gods, and hence reach beyond you, existing in themselves.” - Carl Jung

Jung’s view on sexuality is a very mystical one. He tied spirituality and sexuality together because
he viewed them as both the deepest and the highest levels of consciousness we have. Both are deeply rooted in our biology - our instinctive nature to reproduce, and also to find meaning and patterns. Both are considered to be the attributes of an intelligent species - the ability to form thought of a being greater than us as well as the intellectual capacity to form opinions and preferences that go beyond simple mating and passing of genes, some of which seem to be in direct violation of the entire purpose of reproduction.

Addressing some comments from the last post, the conscious is, defined by Jung, our actions and

outward thoughts presented in conversation. Even strange, abstract paintings created by a whimsical

artist would be considered the shallow surface of the conscious as it is created from the artist actively

thinking and the mechanical motions he uses to paint it. It is how we communicate to each other, and

using words and ideas that can closely convey what we are trying to communicate.

The answer to another comment is YES, people can create vivid fantasies through just their

imagination. Jung relates this to us being deeply connected with our spirituality, or what we

want to believe. Have you ever had a dream finally realizing it was a dream hours later? Or dazed

off into space in a daydream? The mind is very powerful in creating these little worlds for us, but also

very weak in differing the two. Dreams are a melting pot of things we hold close and present

experiences. Dreams are powerful, and as Jung also said, it pushes and directs our thoughts, actions,

and beliefs. So yes, stalling a car out in the middle of nowhere for 4 hours, walking outside because

you’re being mind-controlled, or even seeing lights and faces in your bedroom window - they could

all be part of a fantasy you created for yourself.
