Do you think it is
possible to conceive or have an idea of “perfection”? If so, what, if anything,
does that prove about the universe?
In my own personal opinion, I do believe it is possible for
the human mind to conceive or have an idea of “perfection”. However, while I do
believe it is possible for the human mind to conceive perfection, I know that
no human mind would have the same idea of perfection. For example, one person
may think of perfection as being the homeowner of a very large house while
another person may think of perfection as being the homeowner of a very petite
house. Another example would be one individual might imagine the perfect
lifestyle as being one with a husband or wife along with children and maybe
even a family pet. While another individual may imagine things completely
different with the perfect lifestyle being alone with no worries or
responsibilities. In my opinion, I believe this proves a few things about the
universe. The first thing it proves is that you can’t please everyone. Humans
are already extremely difficult to please and only seem to become more
difficult to as time goes on. The second thing it proves is that it is possible
to conceive or have an idea of “perfection” however; there are also conditions to
this. For example, you can have your own personal idea of perfection, but just
because you create your perfection, doesn’t mean the rest of the world will
agree with it. The third and final thing my statement proves is that there are
so many different creative minds out there that are brought happiness in so
many different ways. While you may find groups that have similar ideas of
perfection, no two individuals will have the same exact thoughts of perfection.

John Locke
John Locke was born in the year of 1632 in Wrington, a small
village in Southwestern England. He lived a long life and died at the age of 74
in the year of 1704. He was considered one of the most famous philosophers and political
theorists of his time (the 17th century). He was the founder of a
school referred to as British Empiricism. Amongst that, he was also extremely
influential in theology, religious toleration, and educational theory. His most
important piece is the Essay Converning
Human Understanding. In this “essay” is John’s analysis of the human mind
and its acquisition of knowledge. His theory was that we acquire ideas through
our experience in the world. After doing so, the mind is then able to examine,
compare, and combine these ideas in several different methods. This theory represented
a new approach to philosophy. John was a man who took great interest in many
different areas of the world. In politics, he was best known as a proponent of
limited government. He had a theory of “natural rights” that he used to argue
that governments have obligations to their citizens. Apart from this, he also
believed governments have only limited powers over their citizens and should be
overthrown by citizens under certain circumstances. In my personal opinion,
John sounds like a very fair and reasonable man who only wants what’s best for
everyone. Without reading what the “certain circumstances” actually are, I’m
going to assume that they are legitimate reasons such as a corrupt government
leader and other scenarios similar to the previously listed one.
