Work place relationships
Someone else posted about this and it made me want to share my story with this. I work at a factory every summer and have since I left High School. My first summer there I met my Boyfriend. We have been together 2 1/2 years now. When we first got together he was a normal employee at the same level as I was at. However, now he is the night shift supervisor. I have worked there through his moves up the ladder and it has never been an issue for us. Therefore, I have very specific views on this topic. No, in the general sense, I do not think employees should date their bosses due to the imbalance of power present. However, if you are dating and working together before the imbalance happens it may not effect the power balance. There is also the issue of favoritism that can happen in situations of employee-boss relationships. When this happens it drives me insane. However, there should be checks in place to prevent it.
