“One is not born, but rather
becomes, a woman.”
Simone
de Beauvoir was a French writer in the modern feminist movement. She was
married to the most famous existentialist philosopher, novelist, play-writer, and
biographer, Paul Sartre. She was very beautiful and highly sophisticated.
Simone de Beauvoir was born January 9, 1908 in Paris, France. She had published
many works of both fiction and non- fiction; although, her best work was done
in 1949, a feminist text.
Simone de Beauvoir was raised
a catholic, but as a child she became atheist. As an adolescence, she also

left home to attend Sorbonne University in Paris, France to study philosophy.

Paul Sartre and Simone de
Beauvoir had a lengthy relationship and partnership. To be completely honest,
he really changed her life. These two were so close that they influenced each
other’s way of life, style, and work. Beauvoir and Sartre were never really legally
married, being that Beauvoir thought their relationship should not be defined
by organized rules. The couple had an open relationship, in 1940 they even
agreed to have a three way relationship. Sartre was her long term companion. As
for the three way relationship, they described it as being essential, and they
described their other relationships as contingent or unnecessary. Simone
Beauvoir actually based her first fictional book, L’Invitee, on experience.
This book considered many ideas, but the ideas especially pondered on relationships.
