Free Will (Installment #2)            

Now that I’ve basically ran through the gist of what I believe mentally, what about physically? Do we physically have free will? Well, it really depends on what aspect you take that. I could mean do we have free will over our bodies, like deciding to move your hand around a steering wheel to turn a car, or it could also mean, do we have free will over ourselves under a government view, such as abiding by legal law and not drinking and driving. The more and more I think about the topic of free will, the more I try to understand why it is that people, even myself, do the things that they do. Who says you have to be a work at 10am and work until 4pm? Well, technically your boss says so, and if you don’t, well then you’re fired, plain and simple. But really, who is stopping you from not showing up for that awful shift and just lay in bed all day? Nothing. You do you! If free will is a real thing, then absolutely nothing is stopping you.

When it comes to believing that there is someone controlling what I physically do at all times, already making a plan for every single thing I do in my life, it becomes more and more difficult for me to believe. What about all the bad things that happen to us in life? Did God plan for me to get that speeding ticket back in 2013? Did he plan for me to purposefully not mow the grass after my parents very sternly asked me to do it? I mean they’re my parents, why wouldn’t I do what they ask of me? Because I made the decision on my own, for whatever action I made. But I know that somebody, somewhere would come back with the argument that, “Oh, well who says that you weren’t pre-destined to disobey your parents??” Yeah, I get it, everything and everyone is already pre-destined to do what they do. But I can also choose not to believe that, because, well, I have the free will to do so.
