Sigmund Freud Presentation Overview
Sigmuund Freud founded psychoanalysis and provided the modern framework for psychotherapy. He believed that we could interpret our dreams and provide reasons for our actions through our unconscious mind, which was unheard of before his discovery. Sigmund freud created the tripartide development of the human psyche as the id, ego, and superego. Each represent a different stage. The id contains the pleasure principle, it acts off of instincts and wants that are present at birth. The ego is reality principle or pleasure without pain, which helps make rational decisions. The superego incorporate morality which are learend from societal values or parents, usually develops aroudn the age of 3-5 in psychosexual development. Freud played an important role in the treatment of psychological diseases and psychoanalysis, even though many people think he is a dirty old pervert.
