Section 14 Group 1

Looks like no one got assigned to post for our group Tuesday so, here we go. Last class was our second exam, so no discussion. Today's topics are Hegel, Schopenhauer, Mill, Darwin, as well as Robert Stern on Hegel,  and Richard Reeves on Mill from Philosophy Bites Back.

  1. FQ: Who did Schopenhauer have a statue of on his desk?
DQ: Why do you believe Hegel was so popular in his time when so many of his fellow philosophers didn't agree with or even despised his thinking?

  2. FQ: What was the name of Schopenhauer's most important book, and when was it published?
DQ: Do you think wisdom comes only upon looking back on experiences, or do you think it is possible to learn along the way? Why?

  3. FQ: What made Darwin take so long to publish his book? What gave him the nudge he needed?
DQ: Would you rather be a happy pig or a sad human being?
