Interesting parallel to the philosophers' idea that to philosophize is to learn to die. I'd still rather say it's learning to live, and not be troubled or terrorized by the prospect of death. We're the lucky ones, it's been said: we get to die (meaning: we got to live). The Epicureans thought a good life necessarily included time to contemplate life-and-death in gratitude, without fear... making life itself a form of meditation.
