(16-2) Plato's Beard

Today we reviewed/graded exam 2 and then talked discussed Hegel, Schopenhauer, Skinner, Maslow, Coles. In one of the groups I floated to, we primarily talked about Hegel and his broad view of history and our understanding of it. Very interesting philosophy(for me).

  1. Hegel's Dialectic is an interesting way to look at arguments, and it seems to be extremely constructive. Just gotta watch out for the closed-minded individuals since it only works if both participants are willing to consider the opposing side. That scratches the surface of how flawed absolutism is. Bringing that into the reading for Wednesday, Henry Sidgwick's philosophy is extremely anti-absolutist.

  2. I am surprised that James Mill's way of raising John Stuart Mill turned out the way it did.

It's cool to read about Darwin in LH and not just in my science books. He really contributed so much to science.
