The Philosophy of Life
Do you ever wonder what the meaning of life is?
Do you ever take the time out of your busy schedule to take a deep breath and
fully acknowledge the world around you? I for one have. I love to just sit outside with a hot cup of
tea and think about the philosophical questions that come with living in a society
full of mystery. I love to meditate on
the questions that I somehow cannot figure out while there are thousands of
other thoughts rushing through my mind.
Instead of researching simple answers and finding factual information I
decided to take a different route by answering my own questions to life. I have come to find out that what truly
matters is not what others believe, but what you believe. Not everything in life can be explained by
logic. In my opinion, there are very few things in this world that can truly be
explained by logic. I am on a quest for
the truth. I am searching for the truth
about the realities of life. As of this
point in my life I believe that there are three components to being a truly
free and philosophically truthful person.
The first component to being free is learning to let
go of the influences of the world. Bob
Marley states, “Don’t gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than
silver or gold,” which I find to be completely philosophically correct. I believe we must feel free to be ourselves
in every situation. We should not let
the influences of the world choose who we are or what we want to be in this
world. You are your own person and if
you take a stand for what you believe in then you can concur anything that you
wish to. I believe we must stop looking
at people through a negative light and start loving our neighbor and showing
them love in everything that we do. We
must learn to not be so bitter about certain people and certain
situations. Everything is beneficial and
everything is a learning experience so instead of fearing it, we must embrace
it. I believe that it is important to
let people see our true colors because if we hide behind a fake person then we
are only hurting ourselves. In the end
it is not others that will have obtained the knowledge that we have; it is ourselves
and the inner soul that will keep, hold, love and cherish everything that we
were supposed to learn in this life. I
don’t believe that we should let others intimidate us and bring us down. We
must learn to let our true selves shine through in order to accomplish everyday
tasks that will lead us in a better direction towards our ultimate goal in
life.
I believe that the second component to being
philosophically free in ones everyday life is learning how to love. I find love to be that inner bond that you
share with someone. It is the cherishable
moments with the people that we love that make living so fabulous. We should not mistake love for what we see on
television or in movies. Love is that
inner demand that begs us to be with that one particular person. Love is that special bond we share with
someone that no one can take away from us.
Love is something that we create in our minds. It is so special because we make love however
we wish. I believe it is different for
everyone but when two beings share the same exact interpretation, then that is
a true connection to love. I believe
that everybody falls in love once, but we mustn’t wait for it to happen, rather
we should just let it happen. If we seek
and want we shall never find. We have to
let the love find us. I believe that if
we are patient then all of our greatest hearts desires will be granted to us
and that we will finally learn the proper way to love.
The last philosophical component to living a
happier life is simply learning how to be happy. I am a firm believer in the fact that happiness
comes purely from within. One cannot
simply expect material items to make them happy. Physical objects are just things that get in
the way of pure and truthful happiness. We
should not let the world persuade us to believe that physical beauty is the way
to a happier life. You will only truly
be happy by maintaining that internal environment of peace and love. After all, that’s what this world was meant
to be about. Don’t let manipulative
people lead you into the way of darkness as a cover up for happiness. When the time comes we will know if the
decisions we make will really truly make us happy or if they will only mask the
depressed feelings that we have. Inner
happiness can only be achieved through connecting and loving everything about oneself. Once you achieve self worth then everything
else will become a happy breeze through the walk of life.
Now that you know my philosophical views on life I
really encourage you to dig deeper inside of yourself to find your own personal
answers. Philosophy is all about
discovering the truth and obtaining wisdom and I truly believe that one can
obtain their own personal truths through the process of relaxation and
meditation. My ultimate goal is to reach
internal peace and happiness and I truly believe that the only way this can be
reached is through the exploration of consciousness and expanding your
mind. I believe that my exploration into
becoming a free spirited philosophical person is only a minor fraction of the
enlightenment I will obtain throughout my lifetime. I will never stop questioning the mysteries
of the world because there is so much to learn in such a small amount of time. I hope you will find something in life that
allows you to expand your consciousness and learn more about yourself. Life is so beautiful and there is so much
knowledge and truth to be learned. If you would like to try my technique of
mediation I will include a link to getting started, but I hope you will find a
method that helps broaden your awareness and shape you into a happier person.
I find my neighbor a lot easier to appreciate since he took down all those Romney signs...
ReplyDeletebut it's a noble aspiration, to see the good in everyone and unleash your own good too. I stop short of "loving everything about yourself," though - that would leave nothing to improve. You can't be a pragmatic meliorist as a perfectly lovable person in a perfectly lovable world. (I assume you were being slightly rhetorical.)
Melissa Mayo, in sec.19, turned in an extra credit answer on her exam commenting on your report, Amanda. She says in part:
ReplyDelete"I share a lot of [Amanda's] opinions... I totally agree that we cannot sit back and let the negativity of the world dictate to us who we are... the key to being happy is to find peace within ourselves. We should understand that life is a learning experience and we should embrace it..."
It was the first time all semester, by the way, that Melissa came to class unaccompanied by her "seeing-eye" canine companion. She knows a bit about overcoming "negativity."
