We begin the Stoic Pragmatism: Sec14Grp2

Firstly, not many people had the book today! I was one of them, although the preview function on google books (Without any sort of option to purchase! UGH) gave us the info we needed to understand the text. Seeing as it was the introduction and seemingly an overview on Little History, our discussion focused a lot more instead on Butler, the one philosopher that we couldn't find in the previous book.

He was actually an intuitionist, and believed that with enough thought we could find the morally correct decision, which contrasted completely with Kant's view as well as Hegel's view. I actually find this rather hilarious because Butler seemed to have created a microcosm into which we could insert the entirety of philosophy. Although I don't agree with his view, it is very interesting to contemplate!

Question time:
Factual: Philosophy progresses in a way similar to the hard sciences: FALSE.
Discussion: What do you think makes an action moral, or right? Would you be inclined to agree more with Kant, Hegel, or Butler?
