Auto-didactic Section 14 Group 1

Hello everyone,
Due to my absence on Thursday, November 15, 2012, I was not able to post a summary for that day's class discussion, and for that, I do apologize. However, I was able to read tonight's reading assignment on Cottingham. Basically, Cottingham was concerned with all aspects of what made an individual's life "meaningful" or not. Cottingham believed that people basically needed to have "hope" and the drive to make the best of their lives or at the very least, set goals and expectations that involve their positive values.

Questions:
1. What is the beginning step of leading to meaningfulness?
2. Do you believe that "hope" is all an individual needs, in order to lead a very "meaningful" life?

    Questions

    1. Do you agree with Cottingham's philosophy?
    2. Do you think that Cottingham would be pleased with the way your living your life? With hope?
