Section 13 Group 1 Darwin

Group 1
Quickly discussing Hegel; I think we had all agreed that he was one of the more confusing philosophers that we covered.  Its great to see that he believed reality is reality.  With that being the most easily understood his methods of teaching could be contradictory.  Teaching or lecturing by confusion???  Lets Jump into Darwin
  Darwin - Evolutionist
Ape/Monkey - Human  Its clear that there is a seperation between where some believe that we come from the Ape's and others from God.  This in itself is a good topic for our next discussion.  Anyway, here is a factual quesion and one discussion.
F:  What was the name of his first book?  A: On the Origin of Species
D:  How can a trip to different countries/contenants be an eye opener for us?

When I saw this was our topic, I was thrilled, because I think great arguments can be made from both sides.

F: What was the most important species, found in the Galapagos Islands, for Darwin's theory of evolution? (finches)
D: The book said that after 1859 (when The Origin of Species was published), there were a lot more atheists. Do you think they were atheists to begin with and chose to come forward with their beliefs after hearing about Darwinism, or do you think Darwin changed their minds?

Darwinism is a very conversational topic indeed. Darwin was a genius of his time. He was inspirational to the scientific community with his hard work and findings.

F:What ship did Darwin travel on during his journey?
D:Do you think that the question of creation is proven by either/or of the ideas in the chapter. Or is it a combination of both?

F: Since Darwin wasn't a true philosopher, what was he? (biologist and geologist)
D: It doesn't mention the church in this chapter, but how do you think the church handled his reported findings?
