section 13 group 3 (9/18)

Today our group talked about flag burning and debated weather that is freedom of speech or not. We then discussed about the existence of God. We also talked about if you have a perfect God in mind, do you really know and can you actually posses a "perfect picture" of God in your mind.

  1. I think flag burning should not be tolerated. It s very disrespectful to burn a nations flag. And i feel it varies from person to person on what they think the perfect god is.

I am not very patriotic, therefore a flag like most things is a manmade symbol to represent something people THINK we should believe in to be united. However, when it comes to the "perfect God," I believe by faith and not by sight and there is only one God who is in all ways perfection that not other man nor false God can achieve that perfection. He is a protector, a provider, a peace maker , upon other things.

  3. So in class Caitlin brought up that the whole perfect God thing is kind of like the cat thing Aristotle talked about earlier. I think that flag burning is kind of stupid but if it's in the first amendment of whatever that we have freedom of speech then people can do whatever they want to.

Im going to disrespectfully disagree with Austin on this one Caitlin, Flag Burning is at its very essence the meaning of freedom of speech. If we start limiting things that make us feel uncomfortable then where do we stop? Even though we don't like it, it shows just how great our country is. Going along with Markethia, I definitely think that God is made through faith and faith alone. But does that mean that other religions are wrong? and if God is manmade is he perfect?
